SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL
A.S.E. (Academy for Sustainability Education)
FRESHMAN STUDENT PRESENTATIONS
From: Tamela Harkins mail to tharkins@sfps.k12.nm.us
Subject: CAN YOU COME? BE A JUDGE/FEEDBACK PERSON?
If you can attend ONE of these sessions just respond back to my email when you can. If you can attend more than ONE you is a saint and also respond back. We will ask you to enter the campus from the South campus side (if you are already a volunteer) or go to the front office 15 minutes before the start time to get a visitor’s pass to my class at the ACTIVITY CENTER (where ROTC is located) mid campus in ACT ROOM 1. You can call me on my cell if you get lost (231-7608) or need further directions to get here.
(MOST OF THEM WILL BE JOINING THE NEW EARLY COLLEGE OPPORTUNITIES MAGNET SCHOOL FORGED OUT OF THE Academy for Sustainability Education IN AUGUST!!)
WHAT IT IS: Students will present/pitch their ideas(Shark Tank style) for a student run business, non-profit agency, product or program that will not only contribute to their community but also try to make our community MORE SUSTAINABLE. They will go in pairs with prepared power points, brochures and their oral presentation. You will be a community member and elder who is familiar with this community and what it needs/its issues/what might sell or succeed. You will give them a rating based on a rubric and you can also give them FEEDBACK, QUESTIONS, IDEAS for furthering their idea. THIS IS THEIR FINAL!!
These kids have the opportunity to pitch the best ideas to a real billionaire in mid-July who offered from 1k-2500K as seed and start up money for the business, product or agency. You can give them feedback on how to improve their idea and impress the billionaire.
